Handmade with Love

“Buy less. Choose well. Make it last. Quality, not quantity.”

— Vivienne Westwood

Make it Good

Every project starts with the finest leather and hardware, carefully selected for quality, durability, and enduring style.

Make it Right

We take our time and obsess over the details, crafting exceptional leather goods that will last a lifetime (or more).

Keep it Real

Everything we sell is handmade with purpose, intention, and love. No drop-shipping, no sweatshops, and no bullshit.

Made with love, patience, and uncompromising quality.

Everything we make at Swift Leatherworks is built for a lifetime of faithful use. We use the highest quality leather, hardware, and materials we can find. We use “analog” hand tools, we set our rivets and snaps with hand-operated machines, and we hand stitch with steel harness needles and waxed thread.

We put a lot of work into our products, but “handmade” by itself is not a business philosophy, and the assembly process is just one small piece of a much larger puzzle.

Draw. Design. Pattern. Prototype.

Once we get a solid prototype, we hand cut a “permanent” pattern in heavy gauge pattern paper. Then we trace the pattern onto a piece of leather, cut it, glue it, punch it, stitch it, finish it, and then review the finished product. Then we choose a different type of leather and do it all over again.

It usually takes four or five builds before we finally land on the core design of a product. Once we’ve got the core design worked out, we iterate even further, experimenting with different leathers, thread colors, closures and hardware. Different features, different materials, different feel, different vibes.

“We don’t chase trends or copy the most popular leathergram influencers. We make products that we love, and we hope that our customers will love them too.”

No gimmicks.

No games.

No bullshit.

The process of creating a new design is time-consuming, difficult, expensive, and totally worth it. This process is what makes Swift Leatherworks truly unique.

We don’t sell hundreds of units, we don’t make thousands of dollars, but we make great products with premium materials, and we use build techniques that ensure that our products will last a really, really long time.

So when we say, “built for good, made to last,” it’s not just another marketing gimmick, we mean it.

As I was restoring those vintage Coach bags, I would often think, “Man, I wish I could make something like that.” Little did I know that just a few years later, I would be channeling that same commitment to quality, durability, and timeless style in my own leather creations.

A commitment to keeping it real.

At Swift Leatherworks, we don’t cut corners on quality so that we can make our products more profitable. We don’t cheap-out on materials and then boost our prices to pay for relentless marketing. We don’t outsource or import our products, and we never, ever plan for our items to fall apart so you will buy them again sooner.

We don’t use flashy gimmicks to make our bags look fancier. We don’t use cardboard interfacing to make our bags look stronger. We don’t use pigmented or painted leather to make our bags look more “authentic.” And we never use plastic, PVC, or synthetic, because at Swift Leatherworks, we believe in keeping it real.
